Edge at Hudson Yards is a panoramic observatory that has become one of the most iconic and modern places in New York.
History of Edge
Edge is part of the Hudson Yards development, a project that transformed disused railroad land on Manhattan's West Side into a large mixed-use complex with retail, residences, offices, and public spaces.
The idea for Hudson Yards arose in the early 2000s as part of a large-scale urban expansion plan. The development was led by Related Companies and Oxford Properties Group, with the aim of creating a vibrant new district in the city.
- Construction of Hudson Yards began in 2012.
- The resort began opening in 2019.
- Edge opened its doors to the public in March 2020.
Edge is located on the 100th floor of 30 Hudson Yards, and at 335 meters tall it became one of the tallest outdoor platforms in the Western Hemisphere.
What sets Edge apart is its platform that juts out from the building, with sloping glass walls and a clear glass floor, which provides a unique feeling of being suspended above New York. From there, you get spectacular views of the Hudson River, Central Park, the Empire State Building, One World Trade Center, and more.
